Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a CAD Designer to support the design and drawing development for hydroelectric, fisheries, and water resources projects in the Pacific Northwest (office locations in Vancouver, Washington; Redmond, Washington; and Portland, Oregon would be considered). Who You Are

A drafting professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in AutoCAD managing the development of architectural, structural (concrete and steel structures), mechanical, electrical, and civil drawing sets is required. An Associates in Drafting or similar degree is preferred. Autodesk Advanced Certified Professional is a plus.

Knowledgeable: Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects and drawing sets is a must. Experience with Civil 3D and modeling software (Solidworks, AutoCAD MEP, Revit, BIM, MicroStation, Infraworks, Recap, or 3ds Max) is preferred. Experience with Adobe Photoshop is a plus.

Relationship-focused: Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team including engineers in multiple disciplines, regulatory specialists, scientists, other designers and drafters, and other project team personnel. The candidate will also have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Technically Focused: Proven 3D design experience with ability to visualize and communicate in 3D; Civil 3D experience with surface creation, alignment/profile, data management, standard coordinate systems, elevation datums, and datum conversions is required.

Additional Requirements

  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada
  • Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license

About the Position

Typical duties of this position include managing the development of drawings of concrete and steel structures and general civil design on hydroelectric and fish passage projects under the direction of mid-and senior-level engineering staff. Travel may be required to gather project information and provide support throughout the project design and construction phases.
