Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Payroll Administrator in either our Pittsfield or Falmouth, Maine office (any of our East Coast office locations would also be considered). Our flexibility and core value of relationships allows us to offer employees the opportunity to work in an office, or remotely, based on their personal needs. Who You Are

Relationship-focused: Ability to work with staff at all levels in a fast-paced team environment while handling multiple tasks under the pressure of deadlines and maintaining confidentiality.

Knowledgeable: Proficient in multi-state and international payroll preparation and all related duties such as processing timesheets and payroll on both a weekly and bi-weekly basis, maintaining payroll records, inputting new hire information, year-end processing, etc. High level of quality control in review of all payroll data to ensure accuracy, identify issues as they arise, and work through them independently to resolve.

Organized: Highly detailed oriented, good judgement, organizational skills, and well developed written and oral communication skills are a must. Ability to independently research and resolve issues efficiently as they arise.


  • Requires at least two years' experience and a high level of proficiency with ADP and ADP Workforce Now systems
  • AS/BS in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat; experience with Deltek/Vision would be a plus
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus, but not required
  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license

About the Position

The position is responsible for implementing the entire payroll process. It will also serve as the lead resource for external audits that require payroll information. It requires an individual who is a creative self-starter capable of working with a multi-disciplined team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be able to take ownership of their work with a high degree of reliability.
